ODTUG presents a world-class line-up at an OAUG pre-conference workshop at Collaborate 2008. Actual projects using the Fusion Middleware suite will be presented, with an emphasis on the Oracle E-Business Suite, followed by a Q&A session with the panel of presenters. At the end of this full-day workshop on Sunday, April 13, you will know what skill set is needed for successful Fusion development.
This is your chance to learn from people who have real-life Fusion experience. If you want to take maximum advantage of the Oracle Fusion Middleware, you cannot afford to miss this workshop.
ODTUG has brought together a combination of resources to provide insight into Fusion Middleware development and best practices. The case studies have been chosen from the winners of the Oracle Excellence Awards for their use of Oracle Fusion Middleware. Technical sessions will be presented by ODTUG Oracle Fusion Middleware experts and Oracle product managers.

PRESENTATIONS
8:30 – 9:00 AM Opening Welcome
Jerry Ireland, Rightsizing, Inc.
9:00-10:00 AM Oracle ADF: Declarative Development Features for Fusion Applications Development
Peter Koletzke, Quovera
Oracle Fusion is on the horizon. Now is the time for all Oracle developers to understand what it will mean to become a Fusion developer, whether it is for custom applications or for integration with Fusion Applications. ADF is the framework of choice for Oracle's own Fusion Applications developers.
This session starts with an explanation of Java EE and what "Oracle Fusion" really means. It then describes and demonstrates the declarative development features in ADF 11g for building database business services with ADF Business Components; attaching those services to ADF Faces Rich Client UI components; and connecting application logic using the new ADF controller.

10:15 – 11:15 AM Qualcomm - A Case Study Using Application Development Framework (ADF)
Michael Chandler, Qualcomm, and Dhiraj Muchhal, Keste, LLC
Qualcomm has developed a new extranet application which enables customer self service for User Registration, Sales Orders & Shipping, RMAs, AR Reporting, Service Contracts, and Product Configurations. Using Oracle’s ADF Framework they created more than 150 pages and 100 business components, as well as the PL/SQL to interface to E-business Suite API’s. Come and hear about some tips and tricks and how they utilized best practices and overcame problems in a real-life, Oracle Excellence Award winning example of using ADF in a fusion environment.
11:15 – 12:15 PM City of Las Vegas – A Case Study Using Business Process Execution Language (BPEL)
Pat Dues, City of Las Vegas, and Basheer Kahn, Innowave Technology
The City of Las Vegas undertook an initiative to automate the synchronization of information between its Oracle E-Business Financial System and the SPL maintenance management of their Water Pollution Control Facility. They utilized a combination of advanced queues, business events and concurrent programs to launch BPEL processes to perform the integrations. These integrations include requisitions, receiving transactions, item catalog, and general ledger information that flows from SPL into Oracle E-Business Suite. In addition, Purchase Orders, AP Invoices, Vendors, and Employee information flows from SPL into Oracle E-Business Suite. This is a great opportunity to hear about a successful real-life implementation of using BPEL to tie two systems together. Learn how the City of Las Vegas utilized best practices to create an auditable and maintainable system.
12:15– 1:30 PM Lunch
1:30 – 2:30 PM Oracle BPEL "Nuts and Bolts"
John King, King Training Resources
Oracle's BPEL product is at the center of many organization's SOA implementations and SOA plans; this session explains how Oracle's BPEL Process Manager relates to other parts of the Oracle SOA Suite and how it may be used to orchestrate processes. The session will start with a walk-thru of an orchestration followed by a comprehensive discussion of the anatomy of a composite. Topics to be covered include: passing data from service to service, fault handling, and BPEL syntax. The process of turning business flows into composite services will also be examined. Objectives of this session are to: understand Oracle's BPEL implementation; know how to create a composite process using Oracle BPEL; and be able to discuss issues involved in process orchestration.

2:30 – 3:30 PM How Oracle Applications Integration Architecture (AIA) and Process Integration Packs (PIP) Accelerate Time to Value for
Rackable Systems
Michael Seymour, Oracle Corporation, Dominic Martinelli, Rackable Systems, and Dave Krauthamer, Intelenex
Rackable Systems is a leading provider of build-to-order servers and storage for large-scale data centers. The company needed a comprehensive CRM solution for their sales team that was connected to Oracle E-Business Suite. When looking for a CRM solution, the number one criteria was how it would integrate into the Oracle database. Oracle’s Application Integration Architecture (AIA) was the only product on the market that would allow Rackable Systems to fully integrate Siebel CRM On Demand and Oracle EBS. Working closely with Intelenex, an information technology consulting practice, Rackable Systems was successful in achieving its goal of creating an efficient front-to-back office integration with significant cost savings and faster time to market.
In this session, attendees will learn how and why Rackable Systems used Oracle AIA to enable its opportunity to quote business process, what challenges were experienced, and what made the project a success. Oracle will also provide an overview about AIA and the three levels of integration—data, user interface and business process—offered out-of-the box in the Siebel CRM On Demand Process Integration Pack.
4:00 – 5:00 PM Using the Oracle Business Process Analysis (BPA) Suite
Vishal Saxena and Ann Horton, Oracle Corporation
The Oracle Business Process Analysis (BPA) Suite provides a mature, repository-based tool for analyzing and modeling an enterprise's business and processes. Modeling and analyzing an organization's business processes continues to be a key step of continuous business process improvement, and an initial step toward leveraging the power of SOA architecture.
The true power of Business Process Modeling is unleashed when processes are modeled by business users and analysts, refined in conjunction with process architects and then implemented by IT developers. All other approaches will lead to a divergence between models as modeled and as implemented.
A business users' vision of an activity is the starting point for an IT to define a service which may be either a coarse grained single service or a complete (sub) process in itself. Similarly IT can publish the services it already has to the business for reuse / reference when designing business processes. SOA and BPM together create agile enterprises.
The Oracle BPA Suite is a key component of Oracle's complete Business Process Management (BPM) solution. This suite offers:
- Support for UML, BPMN, and other modeling methodologies
- Process simulation
- Integration with SOA and BPEL Process Manager
- Round-trip engineering to BPEL models
- A Business Process Publisher.
The Oracle BPA Suite is being used by Oracle's Fusion Applications development team to develop industry-specific blueprints for key business process models and is used to deliver some the AIA and PIP information.
This presentation will present the capabilities of the BPA Suite, show you how to use this tool, explain how it is used within the AIA architecture, and why you will want to use it in other SOA projects.
